Forrester Park Wedding - Nicola and Jason

This month, among other things, I had the pleasure of photographing Nicola and Jason’s wedding.

The ceremony took place at St Mary’s Church in Tollesbury, followed by the reception at Forrester Park Golf & Country Club.

My day started at 10am, taking some bridal preparation shots of a very relaxed Nicola and her daughter Millie while they were getting pampered by make-up artist Emma and hairstylist Tina.

While Nicola was getting into her bridal outfit, assisted by her Mum and Tina, I popped over to get a few shots of the guys getting ready. As I’ve photographed many weddings I’ve learnt the art of tying cravats and attaching button holes – both skills were called upon today!

So, back to Nicola’s for some final preparation shots. WOW! She looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress!

By 1.30pm the vintage-style car, Milly, had arrived. An emotional father helped her into the car for the short journey to the church.

After the lovely service it was a 15-minute drive to Forrester’s for the reception. Having an hour or so before the wedding breakfast, I had some time alone with the newlyweds to get the more intimate shots.

After the meal and the speeches it was time for my final duties of the day, to photograph the cutting of the cake and the first dance, complete with confetti cannon.

This was a lovely wedding and I feel privileged to have been asked to photograph it and to have met such a lovely family.

Witham Studio Portrait Photography

Hi there! Apologies, last month was so busy I didn’t even have time to post a blog. So here is March’s

update, a month late.

I have recently acquired the use of a studio in Witham. I love this genre of photography, you can

really push the boundaries and capture people’s personalities.

My fiancée Amber kindly offered to model for me, to try some new posing and lighting techniques.

We were both really pleased with the results!

Studio portrait bookings are now being taken and, as a special offer to followers of my blog, I am

offering a ½ hour session for JUST £25, normally £65. Don’t miss out on this great offer! Please see

the website for contact details.

Witham Studio and Grease Photography

WOW - what a month!

Firstly, after my Christmas proposal, my fiancée and I are starting to put some plans together for our own wedding in 2015. The venue, Crabbs Barnis now booked, along with the church in Colchester. Being a photographer myself, this was one service I was looking forward to choosing - and we have chosen Jeff Turnbull.
Photographically it has also been a busy time. I now have a studio set up in Witham and I’m taking bookings. One of my first clients was Legion Defensive Concepts, I’ve been doing some portrait work and have also been busy photographing the WOW group in their final dress rehearsal of Grease.

Legion Defensive Concepts was set up after Christmas by instructor Dave Hayden. Its aim is to teach men and women self-defence techniques that can be used in real life situations. My brief was to capture some stances and also show how it not only helps in a self-defence situation, but also helps you lose weight and get fit.

The session with the cast of Grease was to be my last for this production.  I look forward to working with them again on their future shows, but for now it was quite sad to think my time with them is nearly over. This week is show week and after seeing the full dress rehearsal I cannot express how amazing these youngsters are.

WOW certainly lives up to its name - break a leg Guys!

Thanks for reading and look out for next month’s blog…… Steve.

Wedding of Stephanie and Darryl - Channels Golf and Country Club

First of all Happy New Year to you all!

Well, what a busy and enjoyable Christmas I have had. First and foremost, I got engaged on Christmas Eve to my amazing girlfriend, Amber. I couldn't be happier.

The day after Boxing Day I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of a lovely couple, Stephanie and Darryl, at Channels Golf and Country Club.

Having photographed them in late summer on a pre-wedding shoot at Danbury Lakes, I was excited about having the opportunity to photograph such a good looking couple again on the biggest day of their lives.

The wedding was at 4pm so it was a 12 noon start to get pictures of the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready.

The light was going to be one the biggest challenges - it was a gloomy, rainy day anyway and the bridal suite, although beautiful, was small and very dark. I used my flashlights with softboxes and bouncing to get the natural look.

While Stephanie was putting her dress on the rain stopped for 10 minutes, allowing me to get some pictures of the beautiful venue and some of Darryl and his best man Craig. After some final bridal prep images it was on to the ceremony.

Darryl didn’t know that Stephanie was going to be wearing a wedding dress. He was told that, as they are saving up for the birth of their first child, she would be wearing a white suit. The shock and delight on his face is plain to see.

By the time the ceremony was over the rain had finally stopped but the sun was rapidly disappearing from the sky. I really do love the look of the evening shots here.
A few hours later and my last duty of the day - the first dance, combined with the confetti shot.

This was a really lovely wedding and I enjoyed photographing it, even though the lighting was a challenge. It was a pleasure to be part of their special day.
